Footage of Ghanaian military Head of State Lt. General Frederick Akuffo's arrival in Nigeria for a three-day state visit. He was met by his Nigerian counterpart, Lt. General Olusegun.

The bilateral talks were expected to focus on education, culture and industrial relations.

Note:

1. Akuffo came to power in July of 1978 after staging a palace coup which ousted the previous military Head of State, General Ignatius Acheampong, while Obasanjo succeeded General Murtala Muhammed as Head of State after the latter's assassination in an abortive coup in February 1976.

2. Akuffo was overthrown in June 1979 following an uprising by junior officers which established the Armed Froces Ruling Council. He was executed by firing squad on June 26th 1979.

3. Obasanjo handed over power to a civilian administration in 1979 but would become an elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.
